The Varela Acosta Family from Argentina, checked in at the Miami Ronald McDonald House on December 2012. Their 7 year old daughter Solana, needs a medical treatment for a condition called “Cronic Neutropenia” an hematological disease that affects the white blood cells. She get sicks very quickly as her immune system is very fragile, which can cause serious health problems. Her treatment consists of two times a week injections and frequent monitoring by the doctors.
The circumstances brought them to the United States and although they are worried, the staff and volunteers of the Ronald McDonald House gave them a warm welcome. Parents Carla and Jorge along with their young son Felipe reside at the House and get to interact with our volunteers at dinners and fun activities. They now feel part of the big family and able to make new friends. They are grateful for the love, compassion and generosity felt at the House.
