15 Jun Adrián & his Family’s Journey to the FIFA World Cup 26™
June 15, 2026 — For an 11-year-old who has spent years bravely fighting cancer, stepping into a world-class stadium to hear the roar of a stadium crowd is more than just a game; it’s a celebration of life.
We hosted a once-in-a-lifetime send-off celebration for Adrián Echazu and his family. Thanks to a magical, golden opportunity gifted by McDonald’s and our global RMHC network, this soccer-loving, cancer-free champion and his parents were sent off with a special celebration to experience the magic of the FIFA World Cup 26 live in Miami as Uruguay faced off against Saudi Arabia.
Our House transformed into a stadium of support, with current resident families and staff gathered to cheer on Adrián. Joining in on the festivities was the Cabrera-Betancourt Organization, local McDonald’s Owner/Operators, who came to celebrate with our families and even gifted Adrián a one-of-a-kind Lionel Messi card.
We were absolutely thrilled to welcome the crews from NBC6 and WSVN Channel 7 to the House to document the family’s journey to the pitch and the heartfelt send-off. Check out the WSVN stories below:

While Adrián and his family were cheering on their favorite players from the stadium seats, they carried with them the support of an entire community. Adrián’s strength inspires all of us at RMHC South Florida. We are so proud of him and his family’s victory, and we are honored to have been a part of their extraordinary journey to the pitch!
