Keeping Families Close

For 40 years Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida (RMHC) has operated on the mission to create, find, and support programs that directly improve the health and well-being of children. Our House is a haven where parents and other loved ones can be near their ill or injured child. A place where they can sleep comfortably, prepare wholesome meals and/or have meals provided to them, do laundry, and receive understanding and caring support from those in similar situations.

Program Need

Many times, when a parent or family member is faced with caring for a sick child, they forget to properly care for themselves. Studies show that self-care for a caregiver is crucial for their ability to provide for others. At RMHC South Florida we strive to coach families on the importance of self-care by providing educational, wellness sessions through the help of our volunteers.

This program is designed to help the families we serve be mindful of their wellbeing and arm them with education and services to live healthy lives while going through their journey at the Ronald McDonald House. Our goal is to implement a structured program where we provide weekly wellness and nutritional classes for the families during their stay. These weekly sessions will include: meditation and stress management, nutritional workshops, massages, and art & music therapy. Reach out today to see how you can join the Healthy Hour Program and continue to make RMHC a home away from home.
