03 Oct Meet the Encarnacion Family
A visit to their local bakery in St. Croix, quickly turned sour for 6-year-old twins Dimitri and Dominic Encarnacion. A vehicle struck them, causing severe fractures and burns all over their body.
In August 2021 the Encarnacion family checked-in to the Ronald McDonald House of South Florida after experiencing an accident in their home of St. Croix, Virgin Islands. It was a routine morning for 6 year-old twins, Dimitri and Dominic Encanacion. The boys were walking with their stepfather to their car after a visit to the local bakery. Unfortunately, a vehicle struck them and pinned them, causing severe fractures and burns all over their body. The family was air lifted to Nicklaus Children’s Hospital and then transferred to Holtz Children’s Hospital for treatment. “I will be forever thankful for what RMHC and its amazing staff has done for my family and me because if this place wasn’t here, I don’t know what we would have done,” Julian said. “RMHC has lifted a huge weight off my shoulders. It has given us a place to stay, complete with homey furnishings, comfortable beds and facilities that allow me to take care of my family like if we were at home, with a laundry room to wash our clothes and a kitchen to cook my boys homemade meals that we have missed so much.” The Encarnacion brothers are strong and recuperating well and were cleared to go home just in time for the holidays after spending 85 nights at RMHC. You can help us continue supporting more families like the Encarnacion’s by volunteering or making a donation.
