19 Oct RMHC South Florida Hosts First Annual “Paddles for a Purpose” Pickleball Tournament
October 19, 2024 – RMHC South Florida hosted its first annual pickleball tournament on October 18 and 19. Pickleballers, from beginners to advanced, showed off their forehand drives and support for the charity at The William H. Kerdyk Sr. Biltmore Tennis Center in Coral Gables. The tournament brought together over 350 players and 200 spectators, raising more than $30,000 to benefit families with critically ill children.
“Donations help families stay close to their children while they receive life-saving treatment and remain near the medical care they need. We want to make life easier for families, and your support is vital in helping us fulfill the needs of more sick children and their families,” said RMHC South Florida Executive Director Soraya Rivera-Moya.
This tournament received support from 26 community sponsors, 60 dedicated volunteers, and a message of support from Coral Gables Mayor Vince Lago. Sponsors for the event included Attorney’s Title, Walgreens, Base to Pickle, Big Smiles Printing, Lifestyle International Realty, Roofing Source, Selkirk, LMNT, State Street Realty, and Rocco’s Dough.
