Celebrating Alpha Delta Pi on Pi Day

March 14, 2025 In a fitting tribute to both Women’s History Month and Pi Day, RMHC South Florida proudly honors its partnership with the Alpha Delta Pi (ADPi) sorority. Since 2004, this collaboration has had a profound impact on families in need, exemplifying the power of community service and leadership.

The Gamma Delta Chapter at the University of Miami and the Theta Kappa Chapter at Florida Atlantic University have been instrumental in advancing RMHC South Florida’s mission to provide a “home away from home” for families with sick children. In 2024 alone, these chapters raised an impressive combined total of over $121,000, demonstrating their unwavering commitment to philanthropy. Recently, the Theta Kappa Chapter raised $35,664 during its 2025 Spring Philanthropy Week, setting a new chapter record and earning recognition as the leading philanthropic ADPi chapter nationally in terms of funds raised.

“Our partnership with RMHC South Florida is incredibly meaningful to our chapter,” said Ella Lucente, Director of Philanthropy at the Gamma Delta Chapter. “It’s a cause that’s very close to our hearts, especially since some of our members have personally experienced the support of the Ronald McDonald House.”

Raegan Fisher, Director of Philanthropy at the Theta Kappa Chapter, echoed this sentiment: “RMHC South Florida holds a special place in our hearts. Witnessing the dedication of our chapter has been inspiring. My first time volunteering there changed my perspective on service forever. I met a young girl who was blind and didn’t speak English, yet we found ways to connect. It reaffirmed the true impact of service and the importance of showing up for those in need.”

Both chapters have hosted a variety of innovative fundraising events. The Gamma Delta Chapter organized activities such as Pie a Pi, where participants could “pie” a sister for a donation, and Roses for Ronald, where they sold roses to raise funds. Their efforts culminated in a remarkable $66,000 raised in 2024. The Theta Kappa Chapter also hosted exciting events such as Water Wars and collegiate dance competitions, proudly raising $55,942 in 2024.

In addition to fundraising, ADPi members actively participate in RMHC’s “Adopt-a-Meal” program, preparing and serving meals for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House. These efforts not only nourish bodies but also uplift spirits, offering companionship and warmth during difficult times. “One of my favorite moments was during a Halloween meal when a little boy asked me for a hug,” said Lucente. “That simple gesture reminded me of the profound impact we can have; it’s not just about fundraising; it’s about being there for families.”

Today, as we celebrate Pi Day, RMHC South Florida shines a light on the remarkable commitment of the Alpha Delta Pi sorority to philanthropy and community service. “The contributions of the Gamma Delta and Theta Kappa chapters are invaluable to our mission,” said Soraya Rivera-Moya, Executive Director of RMHC South Florida. “These remarkable young women have turned their passion for service into action, creating a lasting impact that resonates far beyond fundraising. They truly embody the spirit of Women’s History Month.”

The Miami Hurricane highlighted the successful philanthropy efforts of university organizations, such as ADPI, which generated tens of thousands of dollars for various causes. The article specifically highlighted that the sororities are turning their sisterhood into service by supporting organizations like RMHC South Florida.

Thank you, ADPI!
