11 Mar Volunteer Spotlight: Morgan Lacken
March 11, 2024 — Despite a busy schedule completing rotations with FIU, Morgan Lacken, a 4th-year medical student at The American University of Antigua, makes time to support families at the House.
Morgan Lacken, a passionate 4th-year medical student at The American University of Antigua, has been a devoted in-house volunteer at our House since last summer. Specializing in pediatrics, her commitment to working with children shines through as she brings moments of joy to those navigating medical challenges. Despite her busy schedule completing medical rotations with FIU, Morgan consistently dedicates time to the House, making it a point to stop by once or twice a week and contribute by making welcome bags, assisting with events, and providing invaluable support to both children and families.
Her highlight as a volunteer has been the “Home for the Holidays” event, where she actively participated in spreading holiday cheer to our families through coordinating decorations, gifts, and even a special visit from Santa Claus himself. Reflecting on her time as a volunteer, Morgan emphasizes, “It’s so important to remind these families to continue to celebrate life’s moments, despite medical challenges. I love playing a role in uplifting them and making sure they feel honored, celebrated, and at home — no matter what”. Her role in uplifting and honoring our families makes her an invaluable part of our mission. On behalf of all of us at RMHC South Florida, thank you, Morgan, for all that you do.
