Caleb Gaskins Wins for the Garza Family at the McDonald’s All American Games

March 31, 2026The McDonald’s All American Games are often described as the ultimate showcase for basketball’s next generation of superstars. But for Miami’s own Caleb Gaskins, the 2026 games at the Desert Diamond Arena in Phoenix were about much more than points in the paint or a spot on the highlight reel.

Caleb, a national champion from Christopher Columbus High School and future Miami Hurricane, took the court as one of three players selected to represent a family staying at our house at the big game. Caleb was joined by South Florida All-Stars Caleb Holt and Bruce Branch III in a powerful display of support for the Garza family.

Before departing for Phoenix, Caleb toured our house, visited our future Griffin Family Campus, and had a quiet, personal meeting that put playing for a mission into perspective. He came to meet Liam and his sister Delilah.

The Garza family’s journey is one of incredible resilience. Liam and Delilah first made headlines in 2016 after receiving complex multi-organ transplants at Holtz Children’s Hospital. The family returned to our house last year as 10-year-old Liam is currently undergoing chemotherapy to battle post-transplant cancer. For Caleb, meeting the Garza family wasn’t just a visit; it was the fuel for his performance.

“It’s a great honor to be playing for Liam and his beautiful family. It’s amazing that I’m able to play for something bigger than myself. I love that I can be an inspiration for others just because of who I am and I really pray that Liam and Delilah can be an inspiration to others as well.”Caleb Gaskins

Seeing a hometown hero like Caleb transition from a Columbus Explorer to a Miami Hurricane while championing RMHC South Florida families is a testament to our community’s spirit. His leadership on the court mirrors the leadership we see every day from our supporters.

Congratulations to Holt on earning Boys West MVP. Gaskins won the Unrivaled 1v1 Tournament at the Sprite Jam Fest and scored 9 points at the big game to help the Boys Team West secure victory at the 2026 McDonald’s All American Games. As Caleb heads back to Miami to begin his journey as a Hurricane, we celebrate not just his athletic prowess but also his heart for service.
