Home Away From Home Tax Credit Program

Turn your Florida tax dollars into a Home for families in need.

Florida’s Home Away From Home Tax Credit lets businesses receive a tax credit for their donation, making it one of the most efficient ways to give back to families with hospitalized children, served by Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida.

Every dollar, every gift, through this program, is going to help build and operate the new Ronald McDonald House — giving more families a warm place to stay just steps from their child’s hospital bed.

The Home Away From Home tax credit program has a $13 million annual cap, and tax credits are issued on a first-come, first-served basis. Once the cap is reached, no additional credits will be issued for the year, making it important to apply early for securing credit benefits.

Building a New House Together

Every gift through this program is going to help build and operate the new Ronald McDonald House — giving more families a warm place to stay just steps from their child’s hospital bed. Your company’s participation turns a tax obligation into nights of rest, home-cooked meals, and comfort for families during the hardest days of their lives.

The program is designed so that participating Florida businesses receive a tax credit for their donation, making it one of the most efficient ways to give back to families served by Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida.

Three Florida Taxes that Qualify

1

Corporate Income Tax

3

Insurance Premium Tax

For insurers paying Florida’s tax on insurance premiums.

How Corporations Can Easily Participate

Simple steps.
The process is handled through the Florida Department of Revenue. Designate Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida as your recipient and we’ll guide you through every step.

1. Confirm your Eligibility

Any business that pays Florida corporate income tax, insurance premium tax, or certain excise taxes can participate in the Home Away From Home Tax Program. If you owe Florida state tax, you likely qualify.

2. Apply for a Tax Credit Allocation

Before you donate, complete the online application with the Florida Department of Revenue to reserve your credits.

Name Ronald McDonald House Charities of South Florida as your designated charitable organization and state your intended donation amount.

3. Receive your Approval

The Department of Revenue reviews your application and issues an approval confirming the amount you may donate for credit and the deadline to complete your gift.

Eligibility, credit amounts, and filing procedures depend on your specific tax situation — please confirm details with your tax professional.

4. Make your Contribution

Send your contribution to RMHC South Florida within the timeframe in your approval letter. Let us know your gift is earmarked for the new Ronald McDonald House project so we can direct it accordingly. Click here to make your contribution.

6. Report your Contribution

Attach the certificate when you file the applicable Florida tax return. Any credit you don’t use that year may generally be carried forward to future tax years.

7. See your Impact

Your contribution helps us build and our new Ronald McDonald House on the grounds of Jackson Memorial Medical Center — keeping families just steps from their critically ill child, at little to no cost to them.
