HOPE HAS A NEW HOME

We are making more room so that when a family is given the heartbreaking news that one of their children is critically ill or injured, they will not have to worry about having a place for their family to stay.

Last year, we turned away over 128 families in need of a home away from home. Families that needed our comfort and care, who were forced to either cancel or postpone their child’s treatment, or face a desperate search for other accommodations. Currently, Ronald McDonald House of South Florida hosts nearly 225 families and provides over 3,000 nights of care annually.

Our new House will have accommodations for 54 families per night. This expansion will allow us to serve more than 400 families annually, providing 5,740 nights of care each year. These new, larger rooms will allow families to stay together and allow parents to focus on what’s important: their family and the health of their child.

The Ronald McDonald House provides the comforts of home and gives each family a space to call their own.

The individual rooms will include the following amenities:

  • The addition of 23 fully private guestrooms for a total of 54 rooms, each designed to accommodate four guests
  • A warm and comfortable reception area, including private family check-in areas
  • State-of-the-art kitchen and dining spaces, including small family kitchens and a large and modern communal kitchen for shared meals
  • Laundry rooms on every floor
  • Strategically designed gathering spaces that promote interaction among all guests—children can have fun while parents bond over their shared hopes and concerns
  • A private Contemplation Suite for solitude and respite
  • Family business center with computers, printers and Internet for parents who must continue to work or communicate with relatives
  • A large 7th Floor community space for meetings, presentations, birthdays and social gatherings
  • Rooftop space for families to soak in some fresh air after a long day at the hospital
